The villa

Maison la Calade is beautifully decorated with stone floors in every room and includes an abundance of artwork and carefully chosen furniture to exude charm but with all modern comforts. All on one level, the large open plan living and dining area has patio doors that lead to the terrace and pool area. The open plan kitchen is well equipped with electric oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, Nespresso machine, and French window to the terrace and with the external dining area. A laundry room is just beyond the kitchen. There are three bedrooms with air-conditioning and patio doors to the terrace and gardens. One large bedroom has a Queen size bed with en-suite shower room and the others are a small double and twin bedroom intercommunicating with shower room and independent WC. There is an Annex with three additional air-conditioned bedrooms: two with small double beds and twin bedroom all with showers and WC. Outside, the garden is fully enclosed with Olive trees and Mediterranean scented plants surrounding several covered terraces and an al-fresco dining area with two tables. The heated pool is protected by an alarm and is next to a pergola with sun beds. The summer kitchen features a Plancha BBQ, fridge/freezer, additional fridge, fryer, icemaker and Nespresso machine. There is a pétanque / boule pitch and ample parking including a carport. The village of Fontvieille is only a few minutes drive and at just 2 kilometers away is a lively charming classical little village with all amenities, cafes and restaurants including the supermarket. To the south there is the wonderful city of Arles, known for its fine architecture and fascinating Roman remains, particularly the Amphitheatre that now hosts plays and concerts. Vincent Van Gogh loved this city that inspired numerous works of art during his short time here, including the famous Café la Nuit depicting the Place du Forum. The city is full of museums and galleries and there is a great market on Wednesday & Saturday morning. There are also wonderful dining opportunities from pavement cafes to fine food restaurants. To the west is Saint Remy de Provence, capital of the Alpilles.  It has all the amenities, boulangeries, little boutiques, quaint pavement cafes and excellent restaurants.  On its winding cobbled lanes you will discover the small squares, historic buildings, churches and museums and on Wednesday the colorful weekly market will offer the opportunity to discover local products and handicrafts. The landscape in this region is particularly picturesque, encompassing rolling hills dotted with quaint hilltop villages and countless hiking trails, extensive sunflower fields, and olive groves. This region is steep with history with plenty of sites to visit such as Les Baux de Provence, considered 'one of the most beautiful villages in France. Avignon, Nîmes and Uzès are other towns you can easily visit in a day, and at only about a 30 minute drive to the east is the Luberon region. Further south of Arles is the Camargue’s unique wetland region populated by pink flamingos and wild horses and bulls.
