Mas Destet

The villa

The mas has been fully restored with authentic materials, natural coated walls, stone floors & solid oak parquet.  It is fully air conditioned, consisting of five bedrooms and bathrooms, a large reception room, dining room and fully modern kitchen.  Outside is a large pool and terrace to lounge, providing a magnificent setting to stay and enjoy a vacation with family and friends in total comfort. One enters the Mas via a large bright entrance hall with double doors, leading to a large reception room of approximately 75 square meters.  There is a fireplace, several sofas, a dining area for 14 guests, and large windows providing a magnificent view of the swimming pool and the Alpilles. The large modern kitchen is fully equipped with central island gas cooker range and French doors leading to the south facing terrace. There is also a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms with queen size beds, reversible air conditioning, and private bathrooms with shower and a separate water closet for both rooms. On the first floor there is one super king size bed and two king size beds with reversible air conditioning and private bathrooms: three with shower and one with a bath and dressing room. Outside a large garden is divided into two areas: to the west with access from a bedroom suite on the ground floor, and the greater part to the south, benefiting from a very large swimming pool and centenarian Olive trees. A heated infinity pool is fed by a water path and is secured with an electric cover. The swimming pool terrace has four outdoor sofas, parasol and sun loungers. Two terraces, one with a pergola with table seating 16 guests and a covered pool house fully equipped with dining table, sink, small fridge, barbecue, separate WC and balls for playing pétanque . There are numerous sun-loungers and seating. The Mas is located between Mausanne and Mouries, both within a few minutes drive offering shops, bars & restaurants. There is also the charming picturesque village of Eygalières not far away. There are many other interesting villages nearby such as St. Remy de Provence, the birthplace of the 16th Century astrologer Nostradamus, and just outside the town is the impressive Greco-Roman archaeological site of Glanum.  Also nearby is the beautiful retreat where Van Gough painted. Villages such as Les Baux de Provence and Fontvielle and the remote and mysterious wetlands of the Camargue (one of Europe’s most important nature reserves, known especially for its pink flamingos, fighting bulls and wild horses) and all around the scent of rosemary, thyme and lavender. A short 30 minutes drive north is the beautiful walled city of Avignon - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medieval city of Popes with the biggest gothic palace in the world. There is Pont de Guard – also a World Heritage Site – the incredible triple height aqueduct bridge built by the Romans, which delivered pure water to the Roman baths and fountains at Nîmes to the west, with its impressive Roman arena. To the south, the city of Arles with its Roman arena (holdings 20,000 spectators) and the nearest beach at St. Maries de la Mer (45 minute drive). The Camargue offers wonderful opportunities to ride, bicycle and walk in this fascinating area. There is also excellent riding, cycling and walking in the Alpilles hills close to St Remy and Les Baux de Provence. Bicycles can be hired in several local villages and there are a number of nearby livery stables.
