The villa

This beautiful authentic family country house was built around 1880 by the owner ancestor and is still inhabited by the descendants six generations later. It has been recently renovated with charming design, features seven bedrooms accommodating 14 guests, with the spacious rooms and living rooms and the large pool and lawns. It is a perfect place for large family reunions. As soon as you arrive, you will pass through the imposing wrought iron gates of the Mas Verdun and find yourself in a true oasis of calm. A long shady path lined with plane trees will lead you to the Mas. This place will allow you to enjoy privileged moments with your family or friends in a simple yet refined atmosphere that all lovers of the Provencal way of life will appreciate. A dive in the pool during the sunny summer days will be a great chance for a refreshing break – or for the sportier type, why not play a game of pétanque (boules) in the boules pitch of the Mas Verdun in the shade of the plane trees! The large living room with a great fireplace is the heart of the Mas, with a television, DVD player, video library, and board games. It will allow you to pass the time in a relaxed atmosphere. This majestic space is decorated with delicate colors and extends into a dining room with a bar area. Children have a great play space entirely for them as well. The home cinema and its video projector will allow you to watch your favorite movies on a big screen! A modern kitchen, with a big island unit equipped almost like the best restaurants, worthy of a great chef, is equipped with all that is necessary. You can savor your meals on the big patio terrace easily accessible through the sliding doors opening to the outside. A long table of wrought iron, seating 18 guests awaits your dishes in the shade of the plane trees. There, at your disposal, is a barbecue to prepare delicious grilled food and a plancha flattop grill to put together a real summery colorful meal. There are two staircases that will lead you to the upper floors. The tastefully chosen furniture perfectly blends with the light and luminous shades of the rooms. You will find at the top of the first stair two beautiful rooms with all the comfort you need to offer you a refreshing rest. The first bedroom has a 160 cm double bed and an adjoining shower room. The second bedroom has a large 200 x 200 cm double bed, its own dressing room, a walk-in shower room and WC. All the bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning. The second stair will lead you to a room with a 160 cm bed, as well as another room with two 90 cm single beds. A splendid walk-in shower room with separate WC is accessible from these two rooms. A little farther, another room with a 160 cm bed welcomes you with its adjoining shower room. The layout of each floor was well thought out so that everyone enjoys great comfort and intimacy. On this level is a laundry room fitted with a washing machine, dryer, iron with an ironing board with adjustable height, and a tap and washbasin to facilitate the cleaning. Finally, on this floor, you can enjoy sitting in a small living room. On the second floor, you will find at your disposal a real family suite ‘familiale’. Made up of one room with a large 160 cm bed with a desk and a baby area, and another room with three single beds and its adjoining shower room with separate WC. This suite will surprise you with its great dimensions and the comfort it offers. Outside are the great tree-filled grounds and a beautiful swimming pool. The owner has thought out the smallest details to offer you a quality stay inside as well as outside. Everything was created so that you will enjoy the leisure, or give yourself up to outdoor activities in the company of other adults and children. The great spaces will satisfy everyone’s wish. The great swimming pool 12 x 4 m has in store unequaled moments for the young and the young at heart. Those who love sunbathing will be able to relax in the deckchairs while comfortably lying down in the sun, soothed by the cicadas. The swimming pool is secured will a cover reel so that the parents can let the children scamper around without worrying. The recreational and leisure activities are plentiful, you will be able to perfect your throw on the pétanque strip, hit a few balls on the table tennis table or play a match of table football. Children are not forgotten. Play areas inside and out have been built for their greatest pleasure. There is a wooden playhouse, a small outside table with chairs, push chairs, cribs and dolls for little girls, a doll’s tea set but also bikes, tractors and go-karts for the most audacious. They will also find toys for the swimming pool. This region has plenty to offer, such as the lively village of St Rémy just 12 kilometers away. It is a charming classical little town, capital of the Alpilles with all the amenities, boulangeries, little boutiques, quaint pavement cafes and excellent restaurants. Down its winding cobbled lanes you will discover the small squares, historic buildings, churches and museums and on Wednesday, the colorful weekly market will offer the opportunity to discover local products and handicrafts which is a must to see. A little further north of the Mas is the magnificent walled city of Avignon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which boasts the gothic “Palace of the Popes”, a wonder not to be missed. Awe-inspiring Roman buildings and ruins are scattered everywhere in this Ancient Roman Province, the impressive triple-tiered aqueduct of the Pont du Gard and the massive arena in Arles are certainly worth a visit. Further southwest, under an hour’s drive, is the Camargue National Park, a fascinating wetland known for its pink flamingos, fighting bulls and wild horses. Going east into the Luberon there are the enchanting villages of Gordes, one of the most beautiful villages in the South of France, is on your doorstep and is well worth a visit. Its century old cobbled streets, tall stone houses built against the rock and the imposing castle are the unique setting for many art exhibitions and musical festivals taking place during the summer season Other villages such as Menerbes, Fontaines de Vaucluse are an absolute must to visit as well if you are seeking to experience the essence of Provence. And don't miss the pretty village of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with its canals, narrow streets and antiques market.
